“As a young woman I became aware of an instinctual conflict between my primal urges to procreate and my musical creativity. I'd had conversations with other young women who were also experiencing this dilemma. I wrote Babies to acknowledge and express that conflict. The song seemed to spook the record company types who seemed to think my head was not fully in my career, so listening to the advice of our producer we only ever demo'd this song but never released it.”
