Lyrics: Jane Gazzo
Music: Ross McLennan
Recorded & Mixed by Simon Grounds at Maugie St, 1997.

“The idea of doing something musical with Ross McLennan came about in 1997, whilst I was co-hosting Recovery and presenting on Triple J in the evenings. I was a huge Snout fan (and his earlier band The Hybrid prior to that).

My own band Rubher had somewhat disbanded after our 2nd EP a few years earlier.

Ross and I worked on songs together whenever our busy schedules would allow. All up, it probably took a good few years to record around 9 songs. He came up with the music and melodies and I sorted the rest.

We recorded at Simon Grounds house in Abbotsford. Simon was the perfect producer for the songs we brought to him. Ever the eccentric professor, with a knack for the kooky and the catchy.

The Sofabed Song was written when I found out dear a friend was marrying somebody I thought was way too good for him. I imagined the marriage wouldn't last long and this song paints their fate. I'd like to say I was right, but I wasn't. They are still very much together and married some 23 years later!”
