“No idea why it was called Esky but there were a lot around back then. The song’s a nasty stab at someone who was spreading rumours about us, the details of which have long since been forgotten but nevertheless, the sort of thing that really gets your goat when you’re... y’know... a teenager. Esky was the bridge between two EP’s. In an effort to trim the fat of our The Boys Card EP, we recorded three punchier songs of similar vein that ultimately lacked the same care for arrangements and emotional depth. We inevitably grew tired of them before they saw the light of day, but on the plus side, the old drawing board ended up becoming our follow up EP Diamonds On The Appletree.”
