“Great Big World was the title of the final Atticus album that remains unreleased. We recorded it in April 2002 in a house called Woodstock in country NSW in that timeless tradition of getting away from it all to make music with no distractions. I reckon you can hear the sound of the outdoors coming though on it. Lyrically the song tries to capture the sense of our increasing smallness in an ever expanding universe. The ubiquitous electronic devices that connect us to everything, but in some ways only heighten our sense of isolation. I think subconsciously we tried to reflect that disconnection through Josh and I swapping instruments. Great Big World was meant to be the final song on our album, so I think it’s fitting to see it here closing this special collection.”
